Though summer doesn’t technically end until Sept. 23rd, our minds tend to start shifting toward fall just after Labor Day. The long weekend feels like a last hurrah, so why not do it up big, before you start getting consumed by sweater weather and all things pumpkin spice?

Consider this your Labor Day weekend must-do list:

  1. Eat a big slice of watermelon. Or five.
Sure, the juices get everywhere, but come December, you’ll miss the refreshing fruit.
  2. Whip up a batch of frozen margaritas.
We’ve got just the recipe — and it’s perfect for a party, because you can make a big batch without breaking the bank.
  3. Find a pool, beach or lake to cannonball into.
While you’re at it, play Marco Polo or Sharks & Minnows, because the moment you’re too old or too cool for that, you’ve probably died a little inside.
  4. Play your favorite summer jams on loop.
Don’t have time to create your own playlist? We made one on Spotify you can use.
  5. Go paddleboarding, kayaking or canoeing.
No water nearby? Fly a kite, or go for a mile-long walk around town. Just get outside and relish in the sunlight, even if you turn into a sweating, ruddy-faced mess. While you’re at it, take a photo of the sunset to get you through those mid-winter days when you leave work and it’s already pitch-black outside.
