As earnest and treacly sweet as it sounds, Life Between Weekends launched one year ago to make goals happen. We wanted to push ourselves — and anyone else in our position, who often has a huge “I’d like to do that” list and struggles to find the time to conquer any of it — to carve out the time, get the encouragement, and just do it.

Now, one year in, we’re ready to look back on the past year and start planning for the one ahead. Nate and I have started a tradition of going out to brunch on New Year’s Day, then sitting back and hashing out what we’d like to accomplish. It doesn’t have to be all career- or achievement-oriented; some are simple, silly things that’d add joy to our every day, like vowing to go to one of my favorite restaurant/stores, Oxford Exchange, and enjoying a cup of iced coffee in one of their tufted leather sofas.

We try to narrow it down to 5 or so key goals, just to keep our list from getting unwieldy, and strive to achieve them all, though we’re okay with falling short (which basically happens every year; guess we’ll have to keep pushing to cross the 1K mark on FB!).

It’s easy to jot down a few ideas and forget about them, so here’s a printable you can keep somewhere you’ll see, like a bulletin board, your fridge — or, if you don’t want them within eyesight of everyone who swings by, maybe the inside of a cabinet or closet door.
